ATS Resume Checker for Electricians (2026)

The trades are short-handed, but the application process still runs through software — especially at large contractors, utilities, facilities companies, and staffing agencies. Over 90% of large employers manage applications with an applicant tracking system, and recruiters search it by keyword — a resume without the searched terms never surfaces; it isn't rejected, it's never found. Electrician resumes go unseen when twenty years of real work is compressed into "electrical work, all phases" while the posting names each competency — "electrical wiring," "blueprint reading," "building codes" — and the software only matches the words that are actually on the page.

3 resume tips for electricians

  1. Put your license and safety credentials on their own lines, spelled out. "Journeyman Electrician — [your state] License #", "OSHA 30-Hour Construction", "First Aid/CPR certified." Licenses are the hardest filter in trade hiring — a parser that can't find yours may drop you regardless of experience.
  2. Name the settings and systems, not just the trade. Residential, commercial, or industrial; new construction vs. service work; the specific competencies the posting lists — blueprint reading, conduit and electrical wiring, preventive maintenance, building codes and permitting. Match the posting's own words for the work you've genuinely done.
  3. Quantify the jobs. Square footage wired, units completed, crew size supervised, inspection pass rate, years without a recordable incident. "Wired 60+ residential units a year, passing inspection first time on 95%" reads as proof — to the software's ranking and to the human who calls you back.
